Good Morning Girls Week 4: Genesis 2:18-25

Week 4: Monday
Read: Genesis 2:18-‐25
SOAP: Genesis 2:18, 24

S-‐Write out the scripture passages for the day:

The Lord God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him.” Now the Lord God had formed out of the ground all the wild animals and all the birds in the sky. He brought them to the man to see what he would name them; and whatever the man called each living creature, that was its name. So the man gave names to all the livestock, the birds in the sky and all the wild animals.

But for Adam no suitable helper was found. So the Lord God caused the man to fall into a deep sleep; and while he was sleeping, he took one of the man’s ribs and then closed up the place with flesh. Then the Lord God made a woman from the rib he had taken out of the man, and he brought her to the man. The man said,

“This is now bone of my bones
    and flesh of my flesh;
she shall be called ‘woman,’
    for she was taken out of man.”

That is why a man leaves his father and mother and is united to his wife, and they become one flesh. Adam and his wife were both naked, and they felt no shame.

O:  If you remember the story of Noah and the ark, you know that God created 2 of everything--a male and a female. He did this so that the species would be able to reproduce and also so they could help each other. The female raises the young while the male goes out hunting. (Well, MOST of the species work that way. There are some where the role is reversed.)

The same could be said for Adam and Eve. Man can not survive on his own, but neither can woman. They need each other. When a man and woman get married, they begin a journey together. Their parents' aren't with them. This is their time to form a bond and decide in what direction their relationship they want this relationship to go. If there were influences from outside (i.e. family) things might turn out different than what the husband and wife had in mind.

Don't miss this blessing

P: Father, we come to You as one body, husband and wife. We ask You to guide us and enrich us as we begin this week on marriage. I pray that other couples who are just starting out come to You to guide them through their marriage. I pray that all marriages can become Christ-Centered. You made woman to be a helper to man. As part of the wedding vow, we say what God has brought together, let no man put assunder. We know that You can renew what may have failed or broken. I pray that more couples will renew their love and faith in marriage and in You through this study. Amen.
