The Meek Shall Inherit The Earth

I really enjoy sharing things with you that I find online. Especially if they are encouraging and positive. I hope you are encouraged by this post. I have posted the link to the blog at the end of this.

I found this on Pinterest and thought A-HA! What a perfect explanation of what it means to be meek. It goes along with my last blog post on love, faith and submission.

Meekness ...not a popular word in today's self-esteem culture. But it's a popular word in God's Book.

Sometimes translated "gentleness" (Ephesians 4:2), meekness makes a person sensitive to the feelings of others, but not sensitive to their own (i.e. not easily offended). Meek people aren't peevish, proud, or self-focused. They're God-esteemers and God-servers not self-esteemers and self-servers.
In our world, the self-assertive, self-assured, self-promoters inherit the treasures.

But there's a separate Kingdom on earth, strategically preparing to rule all of history and eternity. The meek are leaders in that Kingdom and they will inherit that Kingdom's treasures (Matthew 5:5).

Unfortunately, few of us are genuinely meek. I'm not. I'm too easily offended at times, too self-focused and self-dependent. I need to pray more, trust more, die to self more.

If you can identify with any of these sins, join me today in praying for meekness.

O Gracious Father, keep me through Thy Holy Spirit; keep my heart soft and tender now in health and amidst the bustle of the world; keep the thought of Thyself present to me as my Father in Jesus Christ; and keep alive in me a spirit of love and meekness to all men, that I may be at once gentle and active and firm. O strengthen me to bear pain, or sickness, or danger, or whatever Thou shalt be pleased to lay upon me, as Christ’s soldier and servant; and let my faith overcome the world daily. Perfect and bless the work of Thy Spirit in the hearts of all Thy people and may Thy kingdom come, and Thy will be done in earth as it is in heaven. I pray for this, and for all that Thou seest me to need, for Jesus Christ’s sake. Amen.  (Thomas Arnold.  Christian Prayers Daily.com)
